A three bedroom Cottage, La Vecchia Scuola nestles in the hillside just below 'la rocca' the old castle lookout point, the 12th Century church and two secular maritime pines. Originally the old school house of the hamlet of Santo Stefano, this striking villa has recently undergone full restoration and has been divided into 2 completely independent smaller villas, each with private, completely separate access. The impressive hill-top location affords spectacular, sweeping 360 degrees views that stretch literally for miles across the 1,000 acre FATTORIA SANTO STEFANO ESTATE to the neighboring towns and villages.

On two levels, the ground floor features a spacious sitting room with open fireplace and dining area with stunningly high, beautiful beamed ceilings. Still open space but around the corner from the main dining area, there is a fully equipped pretty country kitchen.

The centrepiece of the sitting room is the delightful wrought iron staircase that leads up to a balcony overlooking the lower level and to the mansard. The villa offers 2 double bedrooms, 1 single and 2 bathrooms, accommodating comfortably up to 5 guests. French windows in the mansard bedroom open directly onto a private, furnished, superbly panoramic terrace.

Furnished in an elegant country style with colour-washed walls in rich Tuscan hues and beautifully coordinated fabrics, the villa is both comfortable and refined with a select number of restored antique pieces. The property is fully air-conditioned throughout.

Our guests enjoy a large, private, well looked-after garden, surrounded by olives, old cypress trees, Mediterranean shrub and rose borders and furnished with sun shade, reclining chairs and a small barbecue. At the front of the house there is a pretty, covered veranda which is ideal for dining al fresco.

While a completely private property, La Vecchia Scuola also enjoys all pool and garden facilities at Podere Vignola situated at a 2 minute walk or may be rented together with Villa Cerretello. For a purely cultural, country break the property can also be rented alone without pool facilities at a very interesting rate.
