Chateau des Seigneurs was rebuilt in the 19th century on the site of the ancient residence of the Seigneur of Dougnes. During the 1990s it has undergone complete restoration and refurbishment. The facilities at the chateau are superb, with a heated pool, "plexipave: tennis court and riding stables on site. Golfers can enjoy the excitement of "heli-golfing"; a private helicopter can pick you up from the chateau's own heliport and whisk you to one of a number of selected golf courses in the Bordeaux/Cognac region.

The surrounding countryside offers endless opportunities for running, hiking and cycling, whilst local rivers, streams and lakes offer fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and even a small lakeside beach.
