Chateau Villette - P287 France

Chateau de Villette is a magnificent private chateau 35 minutes northwest of Paris designed by Mansart around 1668. This magical estate is featured in Dan Brown’s best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code. 15 double bedrooms all with private bathrooms and couple of rooms for nannies and maid.

Villette is both simple and sumptuous with the great octagonal salon in white and blue, the elegant dining room with the original 17th Century carved stone buffet, magnificent boiseries that has dessus-de-deportes by Francois Boucher, and the limestone entry hall which completely exalts the classicism of the 17th Century. All of the 18 bedrooms each with its own private bathroom were beautifully remodeled in 1999 to 2001. A Professional gourmet kitchen was installed in the year 2001 with top of the line commercial appliances in addition to two service kitchens, a gym, a billiard room and a banquet room. Telephone system is accessible from each room in addition to wireless Internet connection. There are numerous outbuildings including a spacious chapel and adjacent reception room, horse stable and greenhouse.

On the ground floor, there is a great octagonal salon in white and blue that has dessus-de-portes by Boucher, Music Salon, Library, an elegant dining room with carved stone buffet and magnificent boiseries, a grand stone entry and stone staircase, a small kitchen to serving breakfast or light lunch and an incredible kitchen consist of 4 rooms and completely new with all Hobart commercial appliances plus another small kitchen for staff. There is a party wing where we use for weddings, it consists of a huge chapel can sit 80 people, a barreception room, a large entry and the Orangerie which has been remodelled into a beautiful banquet room for sitting dinner of 80 people.

The 185+ acres of garden was designed by Le Notre and spreads out behind the chateau in the central axis with two rectangular lakes filled with swans, ducks, birds and fishes, the spectacular cascade and fountain that resembles the one at Louis XIV's Chateau Marly, surmounted by a Neptune. The private and serene grounds provide numerous outdoor activities for the chateau guests, including jogging, biking, hunting, the swimming pool and newly built tennis court. Jules Hardouin-Mansart and Le Notre designed Versailles at the same time when they designed Chateau de Villette. Therefore Villette was nicknamed "Le Petite Versailles".

Location Details

  • This magnificent 17th century chateau is located fifteen minutes from Versailles and thirty minutes from Paris. It is situated on one hundred eighty five acres. The manicured gardens, designed by Le Notre, include lakes and a spectacular cascade fountain. There is a stable, a greenhouse, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and elegant outdoor areas equipped with furniture.
