Built during the 14th Century, it once served as a chateau for bishops awaiting audience with the popes of Avignon. Tastefully restored during the 19th Century, the chateau was returned to its original splendor, but with the newly added modern conveniences of ensuite 10-piece bathrooms.One can delight in the charm and warmth of its glorious past while enjoying the high standards of a luxury hotel.

On the ground floor of the chateau is a spacious vaulted living room with a fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating. Satellite TV with DVD Player. Off the living room, there is a library corner with computer and high speed Internet access, as well as a cozy double bedroom - king size bed with en-suite bath. A separate dining room leads to a covered outdoor dining area and beyond, a large open patio.

Fully-equipped ground floor Provencal kitchen with large fridge, ice makers, large French cooker, coffee maker, dishwasher and microwave. There is also a powder room on this level. Ground floor laundry.

Upstairs is a comfortable sitting room and 6 bedrooms with 6 king size beds which can be separated for twin beds, each with its own en suite bath. All of the bedrooms are decorated with an understated elegance. The master bedroom, with its canopy king size bed, opens onto a large balcony overlooking the gardens. It also contains a separate single bedroom, making this suite ideal for a couple with a child. The other four double bedrooms are decorated in typcial Provence style, color, and charm. No smoking is permitted in the bedrooms.

Return from a day of exploring to enjoy the beautiful gardens and grounds, or relax by the pool (14 x 7 meters, with outdoor shower) or watch the goldfish swim among the water lilies in the lovely pond on the terrace. Take a rest in the shade of the covered terrace, an inviting spot for al fresco dining.

Chhateau d'Avignon is equipped with a washer and dryer, iron, satellite TV, high speed Internet access, stereo system, hair dryer, and a safe in each room. In addition there are 2 bedrooms for the personal staff on request with 2 bathrooms and small kitchen. Access completely independent.

Location Details

  • A 5 minute drive from Avignon, a European center for arts and culture, and a city with a variety of restaurants, cinemas and shops. Avignon is well served by a network of highways, trains (TGV) and several airports (Avignon, Nîmes, and Marseille). Following a day of touring the city, villages or markets, you will enjoy cooling off in the large HEATED swimming-pool (14 m x 7 m), relaxing in the garden or park, or simply enjoying a siesta on one of the covered terraces.

  • There is a maximum of 6 children for any period of occupancy
  • On request, the property may be rented with just 6 bedrooms during the low season.
  • Pre-approved pets are accepted with an increase in security deposit and housekeeping service cost
