Casa Vela Riviera Maya

Exotic vacation experience at this 100 acre nature preserve near Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya adjacent to Mayakoba just south of Cancun.

Casa Vela is a handcrafted, all hardwood home that accommodates two couples in luxurious privacy. Each suite has king size bed and private full bathroom with separate shower and toilet rooms. One suite also has a marble tub, while the other suite has a sleeping loft with two singles which works well for families with children.

The modern kitchen has a commercial cook top and oven, BBQ grill, marble countertops, serving two dining areas, one enclosed and one outside under the romantic three story palapa. We have wireless Internet and large flat panel TVs. The bedrooms and the palapa are graced with lovely hardwood furniture custom made in the premises workshops.

The white sand beach is at your feet, and there are ecological walking and biking trails, passing through diverse Eco-systems: forest, jungle, and mangrove. There are over 20 deer on the property.
The adjacent fresh water spring-fed rivers are lovely for snorkeling and provide refreshing exercise, swimming against the current - or row a half mile upriver and float back down, Indiana Jones style!

For exercise and family fun, we stock a stand-up paddle board, a lovely hand-crafted rowing skiff, a larger fishing boat, table tennis (ping-pong) on the beach, and board games. We have a sailing school every Saturday (on the other side of the beach) so if you have children interested in sailing we can include them in the group program or hire the instructor for private lessons, using our fleet of 8 Opti's and one Laser. You can also reserve some time for a fishing trip or a snorkeling tour - the reef is close by.
Being off the grid and solar powered, we prefer guests who can work with that constraint and conserve energy while they are visiting, turning off the ceiling fans, TVs and so forth when they are not in use, and running the A/C only if needed for a few hours when retiring to the bedrooms, as it requires the back-up generator...a noisy option!
