La Marescandola is located in a beautiful position, on the hills west of Lucca, with an extensive view upon olive groves, church steeples and the towers of the historic town, which is just 5 km away. This gem of a villa was built at the beginning of the 18th century on a smaller scale than many of the other aristocratic villas near Lucca. It is now owned by an Italian family, who lives in London and uses the villa as their holiday home in Italy. As is typical in all the villas of Lucchesia, the interior is decorated with fine original frescoes on three floors.

The villa is luxuriously furnished with every comfort. The beautifully kept Italian garden facing the villa offers areas for relaxing and entertaining outdoors. The swimming pool (12 x 6 meters) is in a very panoramic position among olive groves 50 meters away from the villa. A full time staff (Denis and Patrizia from Salvador who have been with the family since 1990) is available to prepare and serve meals. They are also in charge for all housekeeping, pool and gardening chores, thus making Villa La Marescandola ideal for a totally comfortable and very relaxing stay. Two friendly Jack Russels are in residence and stay with the staff.

First Floor: Library/sitting room; master bedroom with king bed, large dressing room and en-suite bathroom (bath and separate shower); master bedroom with queen bed and en-suite bathroom; small chapel.

Second Floor: Twin bedroom; double queen bedroom; hallway with bath/shower room; twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

Staff Details

  • Maid/cook and gardener in charge for preparing and serving meals, cleaning, gardening and looking after the pool. They are off Thursday afternoon/evening and Sunday. Laundry and ironing service is available at extra cost.

  • Due to limited transportation in outlying and rural areas, a rental car is essential for stays at countryside villas in Italy. We are more than happy to arrange a car for you during your stay, please just let us know at time of booking.
  • Please note that Italy villas rent from Saturday to Saturday. Exceptions may be possible on a case by case basis and upon request.
