Nestling in the heart of the world-famous Chianti Valley, just thirty minutes from Florence, stands Villa Renai. This graceful country residence is located near the ancient town of Castelfiorentino and is steeped in history. Its origins date back to the early years of the 13th century when a powerful Longobard clan from the Elsa Valley - the Conti Alberti - chose Renai as the site for their castle, later converted into the elegant villa you can see today.

The Conti Alberti family owned the property until the 17th century. Traces of the original 13th-century fort are still discernible in the square brick tower and the walls alongside the villa. The property which has been well renovated it is composed by main villa, tower, private chapel and garden. It has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms of which 4 with jacuzzi bathtub.

Main Villa
Ground Floor: Two large living rooms with fireplaces. Study with fireplace. Sumptuous dining room with fireplace and French windows accessing the courtyard. Old cotta bricks extend from the courtyard to a front dining terrace set beside the Limonaia converted into a casual sitting room, with six arched windows offering sweeping views of surrounding countryside for meals al fresco. Spacious and fully equipped kitchen. One double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi.

First Floor: One double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi and shower. Two twin bedrooms, one with Jacuzzi and shower, one with bathtub and shower. One double bedroom with fireplace, bathroom with Jacuzzi and shower and balcony overlooking the court.

Tower: Medieval tower alongside the villa (part of the original castle) has its own access. From the living room on the ground floor a staircase takes you up to a double bedroom with its own bathroom with shower. Breathtaking roof terrace bedroom suite with fireplace, and en-suite bathroom with shower.

Chapel: XIII Chapel dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, restored in XVIII century, contains a XIII crypt.

Garden: The villa is surrounded by a beautiful garden with a very private pool area, one side shaded by a loggia set with cushioned teak chaise longue and sun beds. Fridge for cold drinks. Cold-water shower at one end under cypress tree. The pool (10 x 5 meters) is set on its own terrace, reached from a flight of open stairs from the entrance courtyard, with an adjacent enclosed lawn centered on tall umbrella pines and brick wall.

Location Details

  • Villa Renai is located just 3km from Castelfiorentino in Chianti area, it can be reach in less than 10 minutes.Pisa is at 70km distance, Siena at 50km and Florence at 30km. Within one hour we can reach the most important towns of Tuscany.

Villa Notes

  • Rentals are from Saturday to Saturday with the arrival time being between 3:00pm and 7:00pm departure no later than 9:30am.
  • There is a maximum of 4 children allowed in the villa

Tuscany Villa Notes

  • Due to limited transportation in outlying and rural areas, a rental car is essential for stays at countryside villas in Italy. We are more than happy to arrange a car for you during your stay, please just let us know at time of booking.
  • Please note that Italy villas rent from Saturday to Saturday. Exceptions may be possible on a case by case basis and upon request.

    We had a marvelous time in this beautiful villa. Our family reunion turned from special to spectacular. Great days of sightseeing. We had two cars which we used to tour and the villa as our base each day. Each afternoon we came back to the villa for swimming, leisurely cocktail hour and fantastic dinners under the stars. We loved being out in the countryside and having a chance to enjoy the beauty of the area. Our cook Maria and butler Jose were the best. We were spoiled! And would love to come back.
