Torre Vespucci Tuscany

This ancient beautiful Villa stands on the side of a hill in the heart of the Chianti Classico region.

Reached by a good asphalt road that continues past the Villa and on up to an ancient castle and hamlet about 1 km further along, it offers stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Greve in Chianti with all shops, restaurants and facilities is at 2 kms. Firenze is at 30 kms, the Peretola airport in Firenze is at 45 kms, Siena is also at 45 kms, Pisa is at 130 kms and Roma is at 250 kms. Historical cities of interest like Certaldo and San Gimignano are close by, as is the entire Chianti Classico Region and the Ugolino Golf Club near Firenze.

The structure is built in stone and quite lively with its different levels hosting patios, pergolas and a central tower. Surrounded on three sides by 1 hectare of carefully tended gardens that follow the hillside contour, it is rich with fruit trees (figs, nuts, plums) and on one of the levels below the Villa is the private 7 x 14 meter swimming pool (depth runs from 1 to 1.80 meters). The terrace area surrounding the pool is fully furnished and there is a furnished gazebo on one end of the pool. From here, views space over the panorama and over part of the town of Greve in Chianti below. The property is partially fenced in to afford privacy.

From the main road, access is directly to the internal parking area of the Villa. From here a short set of stone steps leads to the upper level where the Villa is situated. An external staircase leads up to a landing that opens, up one step and through a glass door into the entrance living room that is elegantly furnished with antique pieces and comfortable sofas. Satellite TV is in this living room. A door in this living room remains closed.

To the right of the entrance, a second door leads down one step into the spacious livable kitchen with large table and benches. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas range, steak grill, ventilated oven, dishwasher, and fridge with freezer. From the kitchen, again up one step, through a glass door is the external covered portico that is fully furnished with table, chairs and comfortable sofas that invite you to sit and enjoy a glass of good Chianti Classico wine in the peace of the evening. This section of the garden has a lot of rosemary and sage bushes that waft their wonderful aroma throughout.

From the lawn in front of the portico, access is to a small converted barn that has doors to a utilities room and to the laundry room. Continuing past the barn, the ground gently slopes down to the pool. To the right of the structure, between it and the main Villa, down a few steps is a covered loggia that is open towards the garden and it is full of flowering plants. It too hosts a large dining table and a barbecue, and it can also be accessed directly from the garden just below the staircase leading up to the first floor entrance.

Back in the kitchen, up one step, is an open passageway that leads into the formal dining room with two glass doors to the outside: one opens onto the portico and the other onto another secluded furnished corner with pergola and tall hedge that hides it from the access road. A staircase in the dining room leads downstairs to the door of the cellar that remains closed. Up one step from the dining room is the door to a spacious living room divided into two sections: the first with large fireplace, and the second with stairs leading up to the mezzanine and first floor levels. An ample stone arch near the fireplace opens back, down one step, into the entrance living room.

Up five steps from the living room, the mezzanine level with landing has doors to a twin bedded room and to a complete bathroom with bathtub. Continuing up the stairs is a long hallway that runs the length of the upper floor with a sitting room area on the right and a utilities room, and a series of doors on the left.

The first door on the left, leads up two steps, into a beautiful and spacious bedroom with twin beds, and ceiling fan. One of the windows has its view completely occupied by a gigantic fig tree that is as tall as the Villa itself. The second door on the left leads, up one low step, into a double bedroom with ceiling fan and wardrobe painted with a delightful “trompe l’oeil”.

At the end of the hall and down two steps is a landing. From the landing up one step on the left is the master bedroom with double bed, ceiling fan, and ensuite bathroom reached by going down a few steps. The bathroom is complete with bathtub, two washbasins and large window. A staircase in this bedroom leads up to the tower room where a study is located. That is the highest level of the Villa. Always at the end of the hall, from the landing, down two steps is a smaller complete bathroom with shower stall and skylight.

The Villa is furnished in impeccable taste. Born as the summerhouse of a noble family, it is not at all anonymous, but carries the history of the family in total comfort and warmth. The floors are in the original cotto tiles and the ceilings are with wood beams on sight.
