In 2018, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve underwent an exciting transformation and reemerged more spectacularly than ever, breathing new life into a magnificent piece of earth, 60 years after Laurance Rockefeller first founded the original resort. Each of the 96 beachfront guestrooms and suites was enhanced with a reimagined color palette and the Reserve’s sprawling grounds saw the addition of more than 300,000 new plant specimens.

Resort Dining~ 

Coa~ The Reserve welcomed a new signature restaurant, COA in April 2019. Inspired by Puerto Rico’s indigenous Taino people, COA is named after the traditional wooden harvest tool that first enabled the development of agriculture on the island. With a name deeply rooted in Puerto Rico’s culinary culture, COA features a grill concept and a carefully crafted menu showcasing the freshest seasonal ingredients. Home to a new and expansive wine cellar called La Cava, COA offers a memorable culinary experience complemented by uninterrupted coastal views. 

La Carva~ Offers one of the largest and most diverse wine lists in the Caribbean and is located within the new signature restaurant at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, COA. This carefully curated selection includes top wine labels such as DRC La Tâche 1995, Château Latour 1990, Conterno Barolo Monfortino 1964, or Vega Sicilia Unico 1960. The cellar has hand-selected more than 650 prestigious wine labels for guests of The Reserve along with unforgettable culinary experiences. 

Encanto Beach Club Bar & Grill~ Meanwhile, the family-friendly poolside restaurant, Encanto Beach Club Bar & Grill, offers a new, distinctive cuisine menu of coastal cuisine, highlighting the freshest seafood and authentic dishes from the Mediterranean, while the lunch menu features lighter fare using the highest quality ingredients. 

Posi+ivo Sandbar~ Dining at Positivo is a reminder that the simplest things can bring great joy, from a colorful sunset as it melts into the ocean, the feeling of sand between your toes, and the incredible flavor of pure ingredients. Positivo Sand Bar features Asian-inspired and Latin fusion dishes that invite diners to experience different culinary traditions in one sitting. The chic beachside restaurant includes an Omakase & Ceviche Bar, beautifully situated on the beach so guests’ feet never have to leave the sand. Master Chef Masato Okamoto brings his Japanese culinary expertise to the Omakase & Ceviche Bar. Hosting guests from behind the bar, he prepares sushi using fresh ingredients from Japan, New Zealand, and Hawaii. The evening-only experience features made-to-order dishes and an exclusive opportunity to connect with the chef. 

La Cocina Culinary Center~ Hosted within a beautiful, residential-inspired kitchen, the La Cocina Culinary Center hosts wine dinners and cooking classes showcasing seasonal ingredients and international cuisines. Led by The Reserve’s culinary experts, hands-on classes teach professional techniques and creative recipes for all skill levels, and five-course wine dinners feature course-by-course pairings. The Culinary Center also hosts themed journeys including a market featuring fresh produce flown in from Miami. Please note that classes and wine dinners are intimate gatherings of no more than 10 guests and should be reserved before or upon arrival. 

In-Room Dining~ In-room dining is available to guests from the in-room dining menu and is available 24/7. 

Dining Beyond Program~ The Ritz-Carlton Reserve Dining Beyond program allows guests to enjoy the Reserve’s exquisite cuisine at inspired locations throughout the property. Dorado Beach offers many private theme outdoor dining and relaxation areas and will enable guests to experience unforgettable dishes inspired by a variety of flavors and techniques, which can be enjoyed at intimate coves and enclaves throughout the lush grounds. 

Beaches~ 

West Beach~ A series of golden sand crescents, protected by coral reefs that create tide pools for exploring, swimming, and snorkeling. This is the remarkably lush environment that drew Rockefeller to Dorado Beach. Home to Encanto Beach Club Pool, West Beach provides esteemed guests with a pristine beach experience with the option to enjoy Encanto Beach Club Pool. 

East Beach~ Ideal for an intimate day at the beach or long walks- with the surf on one side and Rockefeller's “Great Park” on the other. Good winds provide an endless array of exhilarating water sports for all ages including, wind and kite surfing, sailing, paddle boarding, and many more. The Positivo Pool is in East Beach, where guests can enjoy private cabanas, exceptional service, Positivo Restaurant, COA Restaurant as well as spectacular views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. 

Golf~

Dorado Beach’s East Course is considered the premier golf course in Puerto Rico by Golf Digest and one of the best courses in the Caribbean. Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s restoration of the historic East Course to the original vision put forth by his father brings this classic seaside course into the 21st century with a subtle rebirth as a modern masterpiece. Ultra-dwarf Champion Bermuda grass greens with a mixture of Zoysia and 419 Bermuda grass on fairways and tees for the East.

Original panoramic sight lines to the ocean have been restored on 12 of 18 holes. Native sand harvested from surrounding beaches highlights the contoured bunker complexes. New ultra-dwarf Champion Bermuda greens support double-digit speeds with several hole locations on every green. And now, playing over 7,200 yards, Dorado Beach East is as formidable from the championship tee as it is forgiving from the forward tee. 

Spa Services~

Spa Botánico, the Reserve’s acclaimed Forbes Five-Star spa features a unique on-site apothecary. Fully revitalized in 2018, the spa meets the needs of modern luxury travelers, conjuring locally inspired treatments and exclusive products to impart holistic healing and well-being, paired with new Spa Cuisine. 

The spa is a 5-acre oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation offering a holistic approach to beauty and wellness unlike any other. Reflective of Dorado Beach’s lush surroundings, Spa Botánico blends a soothing natural environment inspired by ancient Puerto Rican healing traditions, modern therapies, and the finest quality of local botanicals to indulge the body, mind, and spirit. 

Ten free-standing treatment villas and two Treehouse platforms amid treetops deliver a sense of weightless flotation. The masterminds behind Spa Botánico’s exclusive design are TLee Spas and internationally renowned architect Bill Bensley, distinguished for cultivating sensual, imaginative yet artistic landscapes, capturing inspiration from natural surroundings for a taste of exotic luxury. 

Fitness Services~

Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve offers two spacious and naturally lit fitness centers with new equipment, personal trainers, and group fitness classes. The Dorado Beach Fitness & Tennis Center was designed to evoke a traditional sugar mill and offers cardio and resistance machines, free weights, group classes, private training, a juice bar, and an apparel boutique. Olympian Juan Oscar Rio oversees the tennis center. It features five lighted clay courts, classes for all skill levels, daily clinics, and equipment rental.
