Bali

Few places on earth boast the same natural beauty and mystery of Bali. No trip to the island would be complete without a visit to Ubud, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views at Tegalalang Rice Terrace and a on-of-a-kind experience you’ll never forget at Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. Built on a rock just offshore, Tanah Lot Temple in Beraban is thought to be the work of revered Hindu priest Nirartha, and is one of the most important sacred sites in all of Bali. But if it’s adventure you’re after, look no further — Bali offers some of the best scuba diving in the world, including the popular dive site of the wreck of the USAT Liberty.

Puglia

As one of the country’s richest archaeological sites, Puglia in southern Italy has long been seen as a cultural hub, and with good reason — and one need look no further than Castel del Monte. Originally built during the 1240s, this breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site is described as “a unique masterpiece of medieval military architecture,” and it sets the stage for the wonder of the rest of the region. From the charming old town of Bari to the stunning medieval village of Aberobello to the ancient cave city of Sassi of Matera, visiting Puglia is like traveling through time.

Scotland

Another destination defined by a distinctive medieval identity is Scotland. And while no visit to Scotland would be complete without a stop at Edinburgh Castle or Stirling Castle, there’s so much more here. Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh is truly spectacular, a stunning blend of old world and new, punctuated by Royal Mile and Princes Street. Golf enthusiasts must not leave before visiting St. Andrews — known for being the “golf capital of the world”, and home to St. Andrews Golf Course — the world’s oldest golf course. Looking to escape it all for an afternoon? The Isle of Skye is an unspoilt pocket of wilderness that will be a welcome retreat for nature lovers.

Sri Lanka

As home to many mysterious sites and endangered animals alike, Sri Lanka is a destination like no other. Marvel in wonder at the Sigiriya UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized as one of the best-preserved examples of ancient urban planning, and at the marvelously preserved ruins of the sacred Polonnaruwa Vatadage site. Visit the Nandana Tea Factory in Matara. Hike to Ella Rock from Ella Town, enjoying absolutely breathtaking scenery along the way. However, the highlight of a trip to Sri Lanka is arguably a visit to Udawalawe National Park, where visitors have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch wild elephants in their natural habitat!
