If you're staying at the Tin Cross Winery House in Napa Valley, you should rent a bike and explore California's wine country without having to worry about picking a designated driver. Guests who rent luxury villas in this region will have plenty of time to explore one of the best wine destinations in the world.

Discovered by George Allen and his wife Lavicy Jane in 1855, the 240 acres now known as the Tin Cross Vineyards were once teeming with apple trees and vegetable gardens. Situated about 2,000 feet above sea level, the land is covered with rich volcanic soil that has made these rolling hills an ideal spot for growing impeccable grapes, including cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. As one of the oldest vineyards in Sonoma County, the villa situated in the midst of the estate is rich with historical significance.

Should you rent a bike to explore the area, you'll have the opportunity to take amazing photographs and grab a few bites of the small grapes - be careful, they're surprisingly sour. Each of the vineyards are surrounded by sweeping views of the region and other nearby vineyards where guests staying in luxury rentals can grab a few bottles of wine and enjoy a gourmet meal back at their accommodations.
